Lunchtime
‘This feels so weird…’
‘What does?’
‘This. You know…not having a belt after all this time…or planning to have a belt…or anything. Just being…you know…’
‘…normal?’
‘Yeah.’
Good old Farrah. She always hits the nail right on the head.
‘You’re not normal, though. I mean, I don’t know about Goldfield, but you’re, like, the rockstar of Battle Mountain. Just saying…’
‘Geez, Farrah! Ixnay on the ockstar-ray! I’m not that famous over there…!’
‘Yeah? Then how come they invited you to be in the Easter parade, even though we don’t live there anymore?’
Wait, what?!
‘They did what?!’
‘Yeah. That’s right. They didn’t know your email address, so they contacted Dad. But yeah. They want you in the Parade.’
‘…how come Dad didn’t tell me?!’
‘I guess he didn’t want to stress you out right before your big match. I mean, it’s not like you weren’t freaking out already…’
Yeah. Point taken.
Wait a second, though…
‘…hey, that explains it! They sent the invitation over before I lost my title!’
‘Miles…’
‘…yeah, okay. You’re right. I should just own up to it.’
‘Yeah. You should.’
‘And, I mean…it’s not like I’m normal-normal. Like how there was this brand split, and I got put in the Legacy brand, and they’re still expecting me to be, like, ’The Dude’…’
‘You mean Jeff Lebowski?’
Jokes. My sister has them.
‘You know what I mean, Farrah…’
‘Yeah. But it’s fun to throw you off.’
‘What I’m saying is…it’s not like I’m a nobody all of a sudden…I’m still Main Event and stuff…’
‘…bet Teagan’s happy about that...’
‘Yeah. But, you know…at the same time…it’s nice to be able to go out there and just have ’a match’. Not as the International Champion, or the World Champion, or a challenger, or anything. Just as a dude on the roster. It almost feels like…I don’t know…kind of a vacation or something.’
‘Yeah, well, you go ahead and show up in shades and flip-flops tomorrow night. See what happens.’
‘Ha-ha. Like I’m going to do that. You know what I’m saying, though, right?’
‘Yeah. Except you forgot about these Left Hand people…or person…or whatever.’
Yeah, right. I wish.
‘I mean, why come after you, just randomly?’
‘I don’t think it was random. I think Dream thought I was going to win that match and wanted to make himself the next challenger or something. You know how it is in wrestling.’
‘Mm-hmm.’
‘Except I didn’t win, and by the time he realized that…I guess it was too late to pull back. So he went ahead and did it anyway, even though it didn’t make sense anymore. Because…that’s how he rolls, I guess…? I don’t know. That guy’s a mystery to me.’
‘A mystery wrapped in an enigma?’
‘Something like that…’
‘What about that Anya girl? Why was she there, randomly?’
‘I don’t know. I guess she thought, now that I didn’t have the World Title anymore, that I was going to turn around and go for hers? You know…on account of how I was the one who had it before her…’
‘And?’
‘And what?’
‘…are you?’
‘I…’
…I have to admit, I thought about it. Which makes me wonder if I really like being Average Joe, or if I’m just telling myself I do because there’s nothing else I can do about it. It really…
‘…well?’
…huh…?!
‘Are you? Hello? Earth to Miles?!’
‘…huh…?’
‘You just totally had a JD from Scrubs moment just now. Glazed-over look and everything.’
‘Oh…um…sorry. I was just thinking about it.’
‘Okay. And…?’
‘And, I don’t know. Maybe. I kind of thought about it. But I think I’m going to lay low for a while first. Deal with Dream and his shenanigans. Then when I’m done with that…yeah. Maybe. I mean, first two-time International Champion in Revo1 history does have kind of a ring to it. Or am I just being over-ambitious?’
‘You are, kind of. But that’s not a bad thing. It just shows you’re ambitious. It just shows you care enough about your work to always want to aim for the top.’
Boy, is she great at putting stuff into perspective!
‘Thanks, Far. That really helps. I mean it.’
‘Don’t mention it, big bro. It’s what I’m here for.’
‘I know. But I’m still thankful. Trust me.’
‘But, hey, anyway…who’s your next opponent?’
‘Oh...it’s this girl named Cerise.’
‘Oh my gosh! That’s such a pretty name!’
‘It’s not her real name, though.’
‘Awww…!’
‘Anyway…I don’t think she’s all there in the head…you know what I mean? She acts kind of wild…’
‘Since when do we judge, Miles Andrew?’
‘Sorry, Mom… You know what I’m getting at, though.’
‘She’s unpredictable…’
‘Right.’
‘And you’re afraid she’s going to try some funny stuff in your match…?’
‘I don’t know about afraid…I just…I don’t know how to come at her.’
‘Flowers and candy are usually a start. Or, you know…just tell her how you feel.’
‘Oh, hi, Teagan! When did you start looking like Farrah?’
‘Very funny.’
‘Speaking of Teagan…she’s like the closest person I know to this Cerise girl. She’s all rock’n’roll and stuff. And she wants to be a wrestler. Maybe I should ask her..!’
‘Maybe you should. I mean that. Though I’m not so sure you should listen to anything Teagan says about anything…’
‘Ha! Yeah. I know what you mean. She’s good people, though.’
‘She really is. And you’re right. You should ask her.’
‘Yeah. I think I’m going to go do that. Thanks, Farrah!’
‘For what? All I did was help you think…’
‘Yeah, well…it helped. See you later, little sis!’
‘Later, big bro.’
I hate to let her go like this, but I’ve got to strike while this iron’s hot.
Now, let’s see…where do I have Teagan added again?

Later the Same Day
‘Okay… You remember what you have to say, right, Miles?’
‘Uh…yeah.’
‘Just remember what we talked about…’
‘Okay.’
‘And no random tangents!’
‘…no random tangents.’
‘Okay. Good. I’m gonna let you go, so you can focus on that. Roll tape, Cutie Patootie!’
‘…tape rolling…!’
Right. It’s go time. Focus, Miles.
‘What is normal? Everybody always talks about that word, but I don’t think a lot of people know what it means, or even what it’s supposed to mean.’
So far, so good. Let’s keep this going.
‘Like, ever since I lost my title at the Supershow two weeks ago, I’ve been thinking of myself as being normal again. But then I realized…I was normal all along. I mean, I have two arms and two legs, and a head that was getting too big.’
Whoa! I hope the mic didn’t pick up on Run laughing just then, otherwise he’s going to have some work to do in post…
‘I guess what I was thinking of myself as was average. Ordinary. But even then, that wasn’t true, either. If I was average or ordinary, I wouldn’t be on Main Event, even without a belt, or anything to fight for. But I am. So there’s that.’
You promised Teagan no random tangents, Miles. Pull it together.
‘I guess what I’m trying to say here is…there’s no such thing as normal. Especially not in wrestling. We've all got our own little quirks, and issues, and whatnot. It’s just some of us wear them more on our sleeve than others.
Which brings me to you, Cerise.’
Yeah. I agree. That was pretty good.
‘Cerise…at first glance, you’re the total opposite of me. You dress all gothy-punk-‘n-rolly, and I’m just a plain old Average Joe. You’re all wild and stuff, and I’m known for being kind of boring. Heck, I bet you that’s why they made this match in the first place.’
Knowing Revo, it probably was.
‘But see, Cerise, the thing is…deep down…we’re not that different. Now, I don’t know what your story is, and I’m not going to pretend like I understand what’s going on inside your head. I’m not a shrink, I’m a professional wrestler. Me no know head stuff. Me hit very hard..’
Dang it, Run! Twice in one video? Come on, dude!
‘What I am going to say is this: there’s some stuff going on inside my head, too. Probably not as heavy as what’s going on inside yours, but…you know…I have my own fears and worries and insecurities and stuff. I guess I’m human like that.’
Thumbs-up from Run on that. Again, I agree.
‘So, you see…we’re not that different. We’re both human. I guess that’s a start.’
Three times?! C’mon, now, Run!
‘I guess what I’m trying to say is…we were lucky enough to find a way to work out our issues - by beating up people in the ring. Guess that’s better than beating up people outside the ring…you know? And I guess we’re double lucky that we’re good enough to get to do it on the Main Event of a brand new show, in front of a whole arena full of people who are there to see us. Who are there to see us work out our issues. Cerise…we landed the world’s biggest group therapy session! And we didn’t have to pay a dime. In fact…we’re the ones getting paid for it! How great is that?!’
…and now I can’t not think of wrestling shows as giant group therapy sessions. Thanks, Teagan.
‘So, what do you say, tomorrow night…we work through some of our hang-ups together? You help me through mine, I’ll help you through yours…and we give the people a show in the process. What do you say, Cerise? Are you up for it? Because I am.’
Right. Time to wrap this up, I think.
‘Cerise…tomorrow night, in Indianapolis, Indiana, we’re lucky enough to be headlining the very first episode of Revo1 Legacy. Let’s make sure we live up to it.
Cerise…tomorrow night…
…let’s get a little crazy.’
‘…aaaand cut!’
‘How was that?’
‘Awesomesauce! As usual…’
‘Yeah…we’re going to have to something about your giggling fits, though. Three times?” For real?!’
‘Ah, don’t sweat it. We’ll work it out in post.’
‘Spoken like a true content creator.’
‘Ha-ha. Very funny. Let’s just go downstairs to dinner. I’m freakin’ starving! I can’t edit on an empty stomach, bro!’
‘You go on ahead, dude. I have to make a call first.'
‘Uh…who you gonna call at dinnertime?’
…how do I put this?
‘Let’s just say…I have to call my psychiatrist.'
