"Rhodes in Revolution's Enmity"
“You will never be entirely comfortable. This is the truth behind the champion – he is always fighting something. To do otherwise is to settle.” – Julien Smith
Occupational Hazard
It’s the price we pay to endure a war placed upon the soldiers of circumstance. We’re sent to settle the confrontations of those making ill advised declarations.
Kylie Moore and Cecilia call to arms their chosen few.
The battlefield will become painted with the hues of red spilled by those enthralled with the idea of victory.
The focus of the wrestling industry will remain focused upon that which it should be – the victorious. In that same instant, the defeated fade from the center of attention back to a life without adoring crowds amongst the bottom of the card.
It’s the relegated status of those whom compete with the misfortune of possessing average ability; at best. It’s a lack of probability that their name will ever be written in championship gold.
It’s a status reserved for the likes of Lucy Sixx, Amelia Hearts, and Portia Alexander.
Two of the best in this industry dominate one half of this contest. Dorian Rhodes and LA Johnny Styelz; the group called Domestik Disturbance. They add Damien "Khaos" Carter into this group for at least one night.
They are the enmity of Revolution. Despite grievances or loathing of the political few. They are not the type to grumble or moan their given position. Life and wrestling is playing the hand that your dealt and taking those moments of opportunity to define the stance upon which they stand.

The scene fades in from black into the cold hard steel of the cage in which competitors and foes will complete come Allegiance. The camera fades past the steel barricade into the center of the HorrorCore Championship slug over the shoulder of ‘The Promethean’ Dorian Rhodes.
The Champion adjust the golden belt upon his shoulder and smugly greets the camera. The camera momentarily concentrates onto a tight shot of the Champ’s face before slowly panning outwards. Dorian Rhodes raises his free hand and clutches the steel barrier in which he intends to spill blood and leave every ounce of sweat.
It’s without expectation of those watching that he begins violently shaking the caged barrier and a gruesome laughter comes from deep within his throat.
“Lucy Sixx it wasn’t long ago that we stepped between those ropes and competed for the advantage of War Games. It’s with those same trepidation's that you again step between those ropes but with the added consequence of both my partners and the cold hard steel that escalates the situation.
This position in which you find yourself is potentially the most dire that you’ve ever been placed. Those fans whom paid for the pleasure of attendance can only imagine the nightmare in which you and your team find themselves. Those lucky few sitting in the first few rows will experience the moment of a lifetime that they’ll talk about for years to come.
I’ve advised the power’s of Revolution One that it would be in their best interest to give those fans sitting ringside a free poncho. As you would first think it’s not in preparations of the nights weather forecast. However, it is for a forecast which ‘The Promethean’ is forecasting now.
BLOOD
The nights forecast is that of scattered spewing of the crimson color. It’ll paint the gory picture of the human casualty of WAR.
Revolution One would best be advised to assist in that color of crimson to not be painted upon it’s spectators. There’s no reason to risk the audience suing over dry cleaning cost. I’m simply suggesting the saving of a few dollars. That’s just the kind of employee that Dorian Rhodes represents. A true Champion of Revolution."
It’s a paradoxical laughter that escapes from the HorrorCore Champion. It’s slight in it’s first initial moments as it quickly changes growing more manic within seconds; until it grows into what would be a societal inappropriate moment.
For as quick as the laugh began it as well ends. Momentarily stunning those viewing and for the first time since his debut showcasing that a certain amount of madness hides behind the grungy sarcastic Champion.
"Portia Alexander
The girl with the silky smooth skin and meek cutesy smile. You’re appearance gives those unsuspecting an air of the girl next door innocence. That’s not true though… is it Portia. You’re not that typical all American girl.
No. There’s more to you than that. I understand how you’re misjudged though. I can see how you don’t like that. The whole being misjudged thing. That’s probably why you chose your nickname, Tennessee Spitfire.
Yeah. You don’t want to be that wholesome girl that your innocent beauty miss guides those who judge a book by it’s cover. You’re much more than just a beautiful girl with daddy issues.
Let’s not forget that you defeated Derrick Vayden at the beginning of February. You fought and willed yourself out of Vayden’s Facing Dawn finisher. Against all odds you became the #1 contender for the International Championship. The same title that ‘The Promethean’ himself has his eye upon."
Portia if it wasn’t for your lofty goals you and the HorrorCore Champion could find themselves aligned. Let’s be honest. That goody presentation is only for the fans cheers and the merchandise sales. I get it. A girl needs her ‘things’ it helps fill that gap with the daddy issues, right?"
He allows his words to fluttered into the openness of thought for those watching. The silence of the moment is filled with the clanking of his Championship belt across the cold steel of the War Games barricade. With the attention grabbing motion he lowers the title but keeps his hand grasped around the gold.
"Now. That final combatant of opposition. You didn’t think that ol’ Dorian forgot about you?"
He again allows his laughter to fill the air. This time without the maniacal wickedness of his previous outburst.
"Amelia Hearts the headstrong, volatile, and blistering impulsive girl of harsh words and hardened exterior. The HorrorCore Champ likes your fiery and reckless temperament. It’s a refreshing and energizing quality that not many in this industry possess.
Yes. You my dear Amelia are so much different than so many others within this business. Not just Revolution. It would be nearly impossible to discover another female in this sport that exhibits those qualities of which you display.
I acknowledge that paradox of my words and earlier statements regarding you and your ability. After all it was you that brought me to Revolution One. We’ll call it an intuition into the psyche of Amelia Hearts.
You don’t like that do you? You’re going to say that ‘The Promethean’ doesn’t understand you. That the HorrorCore Champion is presumptuous in his thoughts and his words.
Amelia.
At some point within our membership of Revolution One’s locker room. We’ll stand toe to toe, eye to eye, inside of that realm in which we complete. It’s an undeniable position in which we exist to compete against each other.
It’s a problematic position for you Amelia. We’re both aware of your quest to knock the HorrorCore Champion from his throne. That pursuit you have of gold is transparent.
It’s an unequivocal and downright delighted thought of Amelia Hearts accepting that challenge I offered back in January. We’ve engaged in combat once before. It was Christmas Chaos and it was a defeat of you that put that title in my possession.
Now we once again find ourselves on the opposing sides of conflict. It’s with jubilation that I accept the challenge of once again defeating you. If we’re not careful us meeting like this could potentially become a habit."
Dorian Rhodes slowly raises the Championship in his grasp in a moment of physical demonstration that he’s still the guy to beat. His wink captured by a closeup shot beckons his anticipation of putting the title on the line against Amelia.
Euphoria.
It’s the expectation of a career defining victory at War Games. The moment that Dorian Rhodes embarks once again on creating a professional exclamation mark upon his legacy.
The man at times refereed too as ‘The Bad Seed’ has previously defeated both Amelia Hearts and Lucy Sixx. Those matches helped define the man who leads LA Johnny Stylez and Damien "Khaos" Carter.
War Games
Dorian Rhodes isn’t often the team member that can be trusted. His egotistical demeanor is most times off putting and he’s been known to turn on a partner simply as if it were a mere flip of a coin. That’s a dangerous position for circumstantial partners.
Reassurance and hesitation isn’t the message he’s sending before War Games. His attitude is that of winning at ANY cost. It’s one of those career defining moments that he’s discussed the last few months. War Games. It’s part of the list of accomplishments that will be mention in his eventual Hall of Fame induction.
The girls simply never had a chance.

Ring. Ring. Ring.
Dorian Rhodes rolls over and reaches for his cellphone that had awoken him from the depths of sleep. He slides his thumb over the phone as he sits up in bed. Groggy he musters an irritated greeting to whomever is on the other end of the phone.
“Yeah.”
After a few moments of silence he hangs up the phone and slides to the edge of the bed. He looks behind him hoping that the commotion hadn’t awakened the girl laying next to him. Thankfully she’s still sleeping peacefully. He momentarily smiles as he strokes a few strands of her dirty blonde hair.
He begins to stretch as he stands and pulls a shirt over his head. He slides his sneakers on his feet ignoring tying them. He grabs the hotel key off the counter and exits as he ensures that the door closes slowing to to awaken his guest.
Dorian Rhodes exits the hotel and steps around the corner of the building. He’s approached by someone who stops walking before coming out of the shadows.
“Hey kid.”
Dorian Rhodes greets the voice impatiently. He turns his back and leans against the rock of the building.
“Hey old man.”
“You think you could be more respectful.”
“You think you could have told me you were going to be in town before 2am?”
The exchange of words beckons a dislike from Dorian towards the shadowed voice.
“I’m sorry about that. It was an unscheduled visit. I’m headed to Hawaii for my next match and the plane has been temporarily grounded. Apparently it had some mechanical failure. The airline put us up for the night until they can get another plane.”
“Look. I didn’t ask for an explanation. I don’t even care why you’re here. What do you want?”
The shadowed figure is silent for a few moments and the silence is only broken due to Dorian’s refusal to say anything further.
“You’ve got a huge match coming. Potentially the biggest that you’ve ever faced. I thought I’d given you some advice. You’ve never been inside of a War Games cage before.”
“Oh. But you have… right?”
The tone and harshness of his question strikes out with both anger and reluctance to listen.
“Dorian. Son.”
“What dad…”
The exchange reveals the true nature of relationship between the two men.
“Yeah. I’ve never been inside of a War Games before. You know what else… I’d never been inside of the ring and completed in a Battle Royal until I won one in Revolution One.
I’d never completed with a gauntlet match until I won one at Christmas Chaos.
I’d never beaten a former World Champion until Morbid Dream.
I’m building a career off of moments that I’ve never done… dad.”
His words cut off sharply as he lowers his head towards his feet.
“I know…”
Dorian promptly cuts off his father.
“Don’t tell me what you know old man. You weren’t there for any of those moments. There was no ringside seats and their sure as hell weren’t any backstage congratulations. I didn’t even rate a phone call.
No messages of praise… I didn’t even get a critical disapproval. The old man’s pointing out of my faults. Where’s that dad? Where’s the father that I know?”
His voice cracks with his final words. It’s a moment of emotional weakness not before seen by the Revolution audience. Not in the context of the man who calls himself ‘The Promethean’.
“You’re right okay. You’re right. I wasn’t there on any of those nights. You stepped into that ring alone and you celebrated those moments alone. I should have been there. But you’re a…”
“Don’t say it old man. Don’t you use the family name… You know exactly why I go by the name Dorian Rhodes. I’ve never been in your shadow and I sure as hell don’t want the family name attached to me now.”
His father raises his hands in defense and takes a step backwards. Dorian is now standing eye to eye with the shadow with clenched fist and a trembling temper as anger flows through his veins.
“You’re building your own name. I can’t deny that. I wouldn’t. We both know that I don’t always agree with the route you’ve taken. I can’t argue the results.
War Games is a different beast but I know you’re going to walk into that match showing why you’re becoming one of the best in this business. That can’t be argued by anybody.
Not by me. Not by your opponents. Nobody in the locker room.
Kid your ability can’t be denied by anybody in this business.
I didn’t come here to criticize you and I didn’t come here to offer you any advice. I just happened to be in town and I just wanted to express how proud I am of you. I wish that I could be there but you know why I can’t."
Dorian steps backwards and turns away as he releases his clenched fist. He takes a few deep breaths before speaking.
“Thanks dad… You should get some sleep. You’ve got a long fight and we both need our rest. I’ll see you around.”
Dorian begins walking away as he hears his fathers last words before he’s out of ear shot.
“Good luck kid.”
The elevator ride back too his floor was greeted by a young couple who recognize him. They did invade his space or even ask for an autograph. He appreciated that but he heard the whispers.
“That’s Dorian Rhodes.”
“He’s the HorrorCore Champion.”
As the elevator doors opened towards his floor he stepped off and before the doors closed he acknowledges them.
“I hope you two have a nice night.”
The lady lightens up as a huge smile comes across her face.
“Thank you.”
The doors slide close as Dorian Rhodes feels a bit of pride in his name being acknowledged by strangers. The look upon their faces were lit with delight upon recognition. Though those moments are at times a burden and met with reluctance. This moment on this night fills his confidence and self-assurance that he’s on the right road.
Dorian Rhodes walks back towards his room knowing that War Games is much more important that Kylie Moore and Cecilia Ortiz. It’s more important than Lucy Sixx. It’s more important than Amelia Hearts and Portia Alexander.
War Games
It’s more important than his own partners LA Johnny Stylez and Damien "Khaos" Carter.
War Games
It’s about Dorian Rhodes and destiny. It’s about becoming more than simply the HorrorCore Champion.
A victory on this night in this situation demonstrates what he’s been saying for months. He’s the best within Revolution One. He’s the guy that defines the locker room. He’s the guy that CAN and WILL put Revolution One upon his back and carry it as ‘THE’ guy.
He’s not looking to simply compete nor does he plan on settling for being the HorrorCore Champion. His future isn’t defined upon that word of ‘settle’ as he’s not the type to rest upon laurels. His Revolution accolades are still being written and at the end of the day War Games is just another chapter.
Revolution One’s powers that be called this event Allegiance but for Dorian Rhodes it’s far from a commitment of a subordinate. He’s not now nor has he ever been the loyal soldier. Kylie Moore’s faith and commitment to Dorian Rhodes is for her own ambitions.
‘The Promethean’ will play the part that he’s asked to play. However, if she for one moment believes that she’s in control. He’ll drop her just as quickly as he would Amelia Hearts or her little partners of the moment.
Allegiance
War Games
Those are just another brutal playground where Dorian Rhodes outshines everybody else.
