*The scene starts with Amy Harrison sitting in the living room of her New York apartment, the room lit up by a lamp in the corner of the room and the brightness of a TV screen she’s watching. On the screen, Amy is watching the ladder match where she won UTA’s Prodigy Championship*
“Amy is climbing the ladder, can she do it?”
“She’s reaching up for the title belt”
“Yes! Amy Harrison is the champion! She has done it!”
*Amy grabs the remote control and pauses the tape, the picture stuck on a still of Amy on top of the ladder, holding the title belt. She looks at the screen, her expression a mix of pride and sorrow”
Amy Harrison: Five years. ………….. It’s been five long years since my last big moment in the spotlight.
*Amy inhales a deep breath and exhales slowly, her eyes locked at the screen*
Amy Harrison: It takes a lot for me to get emotional for past moments, but this is one of those times.
*Amy stands up from her chair, taking one last look at the screen*
Amy Harrison: You might say that I can be a bit of a loud mouth, that I can be brash and even arrogant at times, but that was the moment that really made me realise that I had what it took to stand with the big names.
*Amy then lets out a sigh, thinking about what happened next, but doesn’t say a word and shakes the thought out of her mind. She walks over to a nearby table and takes a drink that was left for her*
Amy Harrison: Ever since I won the chance to compete in this title match, I have been doing a lot of reflecting. Looking back at my life, and looking back at my career.
*Amy takes another sip*
Amy Harrison: Looking back at how I grew up in Belfast, right in the middle of one of the most turbulent times ever in the city and in the country.
*Amy’s memory flashes back to all of the clashes that happened near her home*
Amy Harrison: Growing up as the daughter of a well respected wrestler in the UK wrestling scene for decades, knowing that one day I would follow in his footsteps
*She lets out a sly smile, thinking back to her father competing, remembering being able to watch him live in one of his final matches*
Amy Harrison: But also know that I could be stuck in his shadow for the longest time.
Amy Harrison: There was a lot on my plate, but I knew that I wanted to be in the business, and I know that I wanted to make a name for myself, not just be a member of a wrestling family, but to be my own person.
Amy Harrison: But looking back, I realise that leaving home at 19, to go to wrestle in a foreign country, and thinking that I knew all of the answers wasn’t the best idea.
*Amy’s mind rushes back to her early years, and the wild adventures that she got up to, shaking her head at the thought that she believed she was doing all of the right things*
Amy Harrison: No need to go into any details, but let’s just say that I was pretty reckless with what I did, and I only really snapped out of it a few years ago. After seeing the light and seeing just how bad of a place I was really in, and how bad of a family I married into, I needed a fresh start.
*Amy takes one long swig of her drink before putting the glass down*
Amy Harrison: Luckily for me, I got a fresh start in my personal life, getting away from the hell of my former in-laws and marrying someone that actually cares for me.
*Amy walks over to the fireplace and looks at pictures of herself and her husband, Johnny, together and with her new step-daughter*
Amy Harrison: But this isn’t about me and my new family, this is about me wrestling. I got the fresh start I needed in my life, but this match will be the fresh start I need for my career.
*Amy then walks back over to the chair that she was sitting on and gets herself comfortable*
Amy Harrison: It just so happens that the person that I have to face for the title is an old acquaintance of mine. Someone that I’ve known for years, but haven’t seen for quite some time.
Amy Harrison: Anya Coyle. I’ll admit that you seemed to have done pretty well for yourself recently: Stepping into Revo and winning their International Championship is pretty impressive.
Amy Harrison: But let’s be honest, it’s the first real thing you’ve done in your career.
*Amy shakes her head in a bemused way, thinking back at Anya’s career from where they first met each other until today*
Amy Harrison: Oh sure, you were Tag Team Champion with Larissa all those years ago, but even though I don’t like her too much, I can look back at that title reign and know that the only reason you were champions for so long is because she was carrying you the whole time.
*Amy’s expression starts suddenly serious*
Amy Harrison: Let’s be real: You’ve done NOTHING in your career. You’re someone that expects to have everything handed to you. You talk the talk, but you don’t walk the walk, and when you do, most of the time you have someone backing you up to do most of the heavy lifting.
Amy Harrison: And what happens when you realise that you can’t hang with people anymore? What happens when you lose all of your backup? You run away.
Amy Harrison: Me? I stay in the trenches, I keep fighting, doing anything that I have to do to make sure that I get what I want, and looking back at my life and career, I know that I have done everything that I needed to do, even some things that I know I shouldn’t have.
*Amy starts to get a bit on edge, thinking back at who Anya would be talking to*
Amy Harrison: How do I know this? I saw you with that bitch of an ex-sister-in-law of mine. I know that you’re hoping that she would come in and bail you out by taking me out before you have to lift a finger.
Amy Harrison: That’s why you agreed to do it in my backyard, because you have no one in Revo that will be willing to back you up, so you hope that you can find some recruits in 5BW to do your dirty work.
*Amy shakes her head in disgust, before turning her attention back to the camera, as if she’s looking straight into Anya’s eyes
Amy Harrison: Guess what? It’s not going to work! You really think you’re just going to waltz into our territory and get away with your stupid bullshit? Not a chance.
*Amy’s voice starts to quiver, the emotion she’s putting into every work she speaks clear to hear*
Amy Harrison: This match means too much to me, being able to win that championship off of you means everything to me in career, and beating your ass to win it will make that much sweeter.
Amy Harrison: It’ll show that I can still hang with the big boys and girls, it’ll show that I still have what it takes to prove just how bad I am in the ring.
*Amy looks back over at the fireplace, looking back at the photos, including those of her family*
Amy Harrison: And first and foremost, it’ll show that I’m still a Harrison.
*Amy takes a long, deep breath, trying to calm herself back down*
Amy Harrison: It’s been over five years that I’ve been able to step in the ring in a widely regarded wrestling promotion and say that I’m a champion. That’s five years too long.
Amy Harrison: Back in UTA, I proved to everyone that I’m more than just eye candy and a wheel spinner. I proved that I’m a wrestler, I’m a fighter and that I’m a winner.
*Amy looks at the TV screen, still paused on her accomplishment, grabs the remote control and switches it off*
Amy Harrison: This Sunday, I’ll prove it to everyone once again, and I’ll do it at your expense. I’ll remind you who I really am, what winning that title will mean to me, and why you should be afraid to be in the ring with me.
*Amy starts to lean forward, her face showing a clear sign of determination*
Amy Harrison: Anya, I hope you’re ready for me, because if you’re not, it’s going to be a really quick night. But regardless, when everything is settled, I will be able to call myself a fighter, a Harrison, and once again, I’ll be able to call myself champion!
“Amy is climbing the ladder, can she do it?”
“She’s reaching up for the title belt”
“Yes! Amy Harrison is the champion! She has done it!”
