Glasgow, Scotland. It's chilly. On the waterfront stands the gigantic BBC building.
“BBC One... BBC Two... BBC Three... ...BBC Seven, BBC Heaven!”
Staring up at the building is Portia Alexander. Dressed in a faded pink puffy coat and a Tennessee Titans knit hat. She turns to face the camera.
“First it was Canada, then Ireland, now I'm in Scotland. It's pretty crazy. When I got into wrestling I never really put much thought into the travel. I thought about the physicality, the mentality and like the toll of travel and all that, but I never really put much thought into leaving the US and like, going to other countries that I've only ever heard about on television. It's crazy there are so many states I've still not been to but here I am in Europe.”
“It's costly too. They don't tell you that. The hotels and getting cars and eating and all that. No one ever told me that keeping going on the road money wise was it's own motivation to win. The more you win, the easier it is to make it week to week on the road, and in this company that road is international. People in Ireland know my name now, how crazy is that? How crazy is it that I wasn't really clever enough to come up with a crazy wrestling name? I'm just plain old Portia Alexander from Nameless.”
She starts pacing back and forth.
“I'm a meat and potatoes kinda gal, which if you didn't know means I'm lucky from one day to the next if I can afford meat or potatoes. You can crawl out of the grave and make it seem like you're immortal all you want, but you get that not everyone is out to kill you and destroy your career right? Maybe you don't because you're kind of a melodramatic sort of bitch. Some of us are just looking for a win. Some of us are just looking to pin your shoulders to the mat for about three seconds. Your own partner showed everyone in the world at Christmas Chaos that can happen. You can be beat, and when it comes to people like Amelia Hearts and lil old me, that's all we need.”
“See Amelia Hearts and I aren't cut from the same kind of cloth as people like you. You need theatrics to make yourself seem important and you need cute little sing song pop culture references to make yourself seem relevant. That's pretty sad for a guy who was just World Champion. Now I know Amelia has a habit of pushing people away, and me? I'm the new girl with no friends, but hey, I was told you can either make friends in this business or you can make money. Money is good for me, thanks. I know you've made a lot and maybe that's made you a little careless or arrogant, but my partner and I are something you haven't got a clue about. We're authentic. You want to play edge lord cult leader, but at the same time you tread that line to just make sure you don't offend anyone. You CLAIM you don't care, but you skirt so far away from an honest opinion that it's painfully obvious.”
She pulls the knitted cap off of her head and smirks.
“I know I don't seem like the most likely source, but I guess playing sports with guys all my life have given me that trash talking gift of gab. Not that it's hard when others are playing softball.”
“Take Miles A Way for example. Current World Champion and face of the company right? But for a 'frequent flyer' it seems in his promos like his go to move is always stepping back from the edge. Like oh I'm gonna cut a promo on you but I can't go to hard, I don't want you to hurt you feelings. Some crusty old men taught me how to wrestle professionally, and you know what they taught me? Go for the kill every single time. If you're worried about hurt feelings get out of this business right now. How did a guy like you, Miles, get to the top? Well I see that, you beat the emo queen, Morbid Dream, but really, you're so worried about stepping on toes it boggles my mind how you got to the top. You're so worried about putting aside differences with the guy you have a target on you back with because you took his title? YOU took HIS title? Talk about a guy who has no plans on staying at the top very long. And how could you really? In your corner the Dork Knight who talks about, well who cares really, but you know he's staring a hole through you because YOU took HIS title. On the other side of the ring the two baddest bitches in the business today who have twofold put a target on your back. First you're standing between us and the World Tag Team Titles and neither of us are team players, but both of us are women and we love gold. Second you're holding the prize everybody in this business wants. You don't just have a target on your back with your partner, you have a target with EVERY SINGLE PERSON in professional wrestling!”
“It boggles my mind that I've been here a month and I'm more aware of the situation that the World Champion, but I guess you're a bit more worried about what your girlfriend thinks than about keeping that Championship around your waist. You couldn't even gather the nerve to call yourself the champ.”
“And lets face it boys, you haven't got good chances. Coming into this I figured from your reputations that you'd be odds on favourites. Current Champ, former champ. A lot of titles to go around there. Like a Super Power kind of team, if you guys got on the same page look out the rest of us. But look at you, you're oil and water. You managed to make it through one week sure, against another fair weather team just putting in time until the get bounced by someone better. And remember that all started off with ONE member of your team wanting to get bounced from the tournament because he's scared of his partner turning on him. You guys are a pretty entertaining odd ball team for a week, but this week you're up against a pair on the same page. We haven’t got that same fresh wound, we're not second guessing each other, and the unfinished business my partner had? Well she got some revenge last week.”
“As for me, I've gone from wanting to put off this potential match up as long as possible to wanting to get on with it, right this minute if I could. As someone new, as a rookie you always look at the top people and wonder how you measure up. It's pretty rare when you get that chance to do it in your third match in the company, but looking at jokers like you two, I'm ACHING to mix it up! Please hit me with all that usual 'you're a nobody, you haven't done anything in this business yet, but look at what I've done” kind of BS. PLEASE put on all that you're a nobody rookie and I'm a main eventer top dog with bigger fish to fry stuff! Please go ahead and assume I'm a poor girl from some poor town you've never even heard of but you're the top of the wrestling world because I'm just ITCHING to measure myself against the best you've got. If you even think for a second I came to this company and didn't think for a second that there was even the slightest chance that I fit in that main event picture I wouldn't have bothered coming. If I didn't think Revolution1 was a place where I could face top tier talent and prove I belong, I wouldn't have signed on, but I'm not talking about proving I can't 'die' or whatever nonsense you're spouting to make it look like you didn't just lose the World Title. I came here to beat people like you. I didn't just come along to have people I don't know shout my name. I came to make money, prove I'm among the best you can find in the ring, and to feed and provide for my family.”
She shakes her head.
