'No!'
'No?'
'Yeah. No!'
'Wait, is it yeah or no?!'
'It's no! Pay attention, Miles! Geez!'
'I am paying attention! You just confused me there for a sec...!'
'Yeah, yeah... Anyway, that's what you should have told them. Just straight-up no.'
'Yeah, right. 'Cause I can just walk into Kylie Moore's office and refuse to take part in what I told to take part in. That's totally how things work in real life.'
Whoa! Was that really me saying that?
Man... This thing's got me more rattled than I thought.
'First of all, I appreciate Snarky Miles coming out to play. Second of all...no, duh! Of course you can do that! You got rights, my dude! Right, Iz?'
'Yeah! Totally!'
'Darn right! And as your manager...'
'---you're not my manager, Teagan.'
'Well, I feel like your manager. And as your manager, that's what I think you should do. Just rock up there and tell them no.'
'It's...really not that easy, girls....'
'Really? Why not?'
'Because...it's just not!'
'Aw, gimme a break, Miles! What do you think they're gonna do? Fire their World Champion?'
They...they really don't get it...
'It's not about what they're gonna do. It's about what I can't do. Exactly because I'm the World Champion.'
'OK...explain.'
'OK...look...you guys have obviously never worked before, right?'
'Like heck I haven't! I helped my Dad set up the stage on Motley Crue's last tour!'
'That was just one time, Teags! And you weren't really working – you just begged your Dad to help!'
'Whatever, hater! I thought we were supposed to be besties...'
Uh-oh. Better defuse this before I lose my chance at explaining what I mean.
'Look...guys...that doesn't matter. The point is – sometimes, you've got to work with someone you don't really like, or who doesn't really like you. And neither of you can really help it – you're just stuck together, and you've got to make it work, because if you don't, it's going to be bad for business, and you're going to get in trouble for it. So you just grin and bear it, and try to make it through the day without getting at each other's throats. And if you're stuck together again the next day...well, you've got to make it work there, too. For as long as it takes. Because it's not about you, or about who you like or don't like. It's about the company. The business. The people who are paying you and letting you work there in the first place.'
'But---'
'Same deal here. Except in this case, I'm not just an employee – I'm the store manager.'
'The store---?'
'C'mon, girls--you get what I mean. I'm the top guy. The World Champion. The face of the company. I need to set an example. Be a role model. How do you think it's going to look if the first thing I do as a World Champion is to turn down a match?'
'Miles---'
Why-don't-they-GET-it?!
'No, guys. That's not an option. I can't just think of myself with this. I've got to think of what's best for Revo. And what's best for Revo is that I go out there next week, and have that match. So I'm gonna go out there next week, and have that match.'
'But...'
'End of story. Stop trying to change my mind.'
'So, lemme get this straight. You're gonna accept a tag team match...with somebody you know has beef with you...somebody who's come after you before...and you're still gonna go out there and do it anyway, because it's what's best for the company?!'
They got it. Good.
'Yeah. Pretty much.'
'And you don't matter?'
'Exactly. Like I said. I don't matter.'
Yup – I definitely managed to get through to them that ti---
'That is so much bullcrap.'
---wait, what?!
'Don't make that face at me! You heard me! That's bullcrap!'
'What---? Iz---'
'You say you're not just thinking of yourself? Well, you're sure as heck not thinking of the people that care about you, and don't want to see you get hurt!'
Holy crap. I hadn't thought of it that way...
'How do you think knowing that makes me feel? Or Teagan? Or Run, or Far? Or, hey, let's go tell your parents! See what they say!'
'My parents have nothing to do---'
'---oh really?! So, what? Are you going to wait until somebody brings you home from Europe in a stretcher, and then tell them?!'
That has to be a trick question. She's got to know me better than that
'First of all, you know my Dad's flying us out there. Second of all, I'm an adult. I get to make my own decisions for a few years now. And they trust me to make them. Maybe there's a reason for that...'
I don't want to get mad. I don't want to get mad. I don't want to get mad.
'Right – so you're just going to prove they were wrong all along, by being a complete butthead. Is that it?!'
---wow. Checkmate.
'Izzy, I---it's not---it's just one match!'
'One match is enough, Miles!'
---again. Checkmate. 2-0 to the girlfriend.
'Look...Iz...you're right. One match is enough. But I can't back out. I just can't!'
'Why not?'
'Because. I can't. I can't go calling people cowards, and then act like a coward myself.'
'How is protecting yourself from somebody you know is out to get you 'acting like a coward'?'
'---Iz...please...don't. Just let me do this. Just let me get through this one match, and we can move on. All right?'
'But what if you win?!'
'If we win...we do it again next week. And if we win that, we do it again the following week. It's like I said – sometimes you're just stuck with somebody, and you've got to make it work.'
'Yeah, but at a normal job people aren't really allowed to hurt each other when they don't get along...just Saiyan...'
'Dang, girl! You're straight on fiyah today!'
Yup. That she is.
'OK, yeah...there is that...but I'm sure if it wasn't safe, Revo wouldn't let it happen. Right?'
'They booked a casket match, Miles. I don't think they give a crap.'
'Don't you start on me again, too! Look, guys – quit worrying. My mind is made up - and I'm not worried. I promise – whatever happens out there, it's on me. Not anybody else. So just trust me, OK?'
'...When it happens, can we say 'we told you so'?'
'If it happens...sure. But if it doesn't, I don't want to hear about it anymore. Deal?'
'...yeah, OK. Deal.'
'...Iz?'
'OKwhateverIguess...'
'Good enough for me. Now...any of you guys know where Run is? I've got a video I need to shoot...'

'I told you guys.'
Yeah. That's a strong start. Run agrees, too.
'I told you guys I'd do it. We'd do it. And I did. We did.'
Yeeeeeaaaahhhh! This is going to be a good one. I can feel it!
'I told you, too, Daniel. And you didn't believe me, did you? You thought you could just freak me out like you did everybody else, and I'd be so scared I'd be easy pickings. Well, guess what? The joke was on you, my dude!'
That one was worth it just for the looks on the girls' faces...
'And speaking of jokes...at first I thought this Lethal Lottery had to be one. I mean, what are the odds, right? Somebody has to pull out, they sub me in, and my partner just happens to be the guy I just beat for his title, and who wants a piece of me because of that? And the girl who beat me for my title is on the other team? If I was like some people, I'd say you guys had done this on purpose. But I'm not, so I won't.'
They're not going to catch me naming names. If the shoe fits...
'Sadly, though...it wasn't a joke. It was real. It is real. Which means...Daniel...we have to try and get through this without flipping out at one another. 'Cause that's totally what they're expecting to happen. What they want to happen. And I don't know about you, but I like to mess with people's expectations. I mean...I've been doing it all my life. All the way up to two weeks ago....'
OK – enough salt-rubbing. I'll allow myself that one, but that's it.
'And yes, I know that's what you want to happen too, Sara. You want to get an easy bye because the other team can't get along long enough to finish the match. You want that, because you know there's no way lightning will strike twice for you. You want it because you know, this time, you won't be facing a guy who's coming back from an illness and off his game. This time, you'll be facing the guy who turned around after losing his title that he defended multiple times...and won another title just a couple of weeks later, live on Pay-Per-View. The same Pay-Per-View where you lost your title that you'd won from him, on your first defence...'
The guys like Salt-Rubbing Miles. I can tell. Still, I've got to take it down a notch.
'But, hey – that doesn't mean anything. Any given night, right? Well...just remember this...and make sure you tell your partner, too. Tell her that in London, England, the two of you aren't just going to be facing a couple of random guys who got thrown together and can't get along. You're going to be facing the Revo1 World Champion, and the former Revo1 World Champion. Who may not get along all that well, but are sure smart enough to make it to the end of a match without losing their heads.'
At least I hope Daniel is...
'You? You're teaming with somebody who's used to a different tag team partner. One she has chemistry with, and who she's not tagging with for the first time ever. Now you tell me who's on the back foot.'
Ouch! Please, Miles, don't hurt 'em!
OK – that's enough of that. Let's put this one to bed.
'So...Sara, Tamika...don't count your chickens before they hatch. Because on Tuesday, in London, England...
...me and Morbid Dream just might feel like making an omelet.'
'...aaaand CUT!'
Run is smiling. Yup. I thought that was a pretty good one, too.
'That's another one in the bag for the WORLD FREAKING CHAMPION and his Awesome Team of Awesomeness!'
'…Dude. We're not calling ourselves that. It's lame.'
'It's not!'
'It so is!'
'Is not!'
'Is too!'
---should I try to break this up---?
---nah.
If we're back to arguing about this kind of thing, things can't be going all that badly anymore.
