Character Name: James Ceno
Nickname: The Firestorm
Hometown: Hamilton, ON CA
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 251 lbs
Alignment: tweener/face
In-Ring Style: Mat technician with shoot style and MMA
Bio: The man known as The Firestorm has had a tumultuous affair with the wrestling world. Having toured the globe and worked with great performers, there was finally a fatal misstep.
In the beginning, James Ceno was a simple greenhorn performer, starting his career in the indies, as others often do. After adopting his last name and moving to the company Blood’n’Guts Wrestling, his successes began, becoming one of their greatest Hell’s Champions; it was in this time that he adopted the moniker “Firestorm”. He left bNg for EWE, where he remained for a few years.
Facing many greats such as White Tiger, Manny and BJ, Ceno held the All-American and Mid-Eastern titles respectively. After a hiatus, he came back, getting a chance to face the World Heavyweight Champion at the time, “The Blast” Jack Michaels. It was at this time that he requested Michaels’ mentorship and training.
Already starting to feel the effects of age catching up, Ceno knew he had to start changing up his style: out with the flying around, in with grounding and learning how to really keep an opponent down.
Jack’s teaching became invaluable, becoming a part of the stable known as Paragon in both HSW, another temporary home, and eventually Carnage Wrestling. It was during his time here that he reached his greatest height and deepest plunge: the inevitable meteoric rise and fall.
James, curdled by jealousy and the need for recognition, lashed out at his mentor in an attempt to gain favour, showing him how much better he had gotten and how much he changed. However, in the eyes of Paragon, there was no room for lone wolves in the pack, especially if that wolf was an omega. James took his opportunity and attacked before the numbers got the better of him. He was eventually helped out of the mess by GI and The Rogues, the latter being a tag team in pursuit of the gold that Paragon held; after injuring Amber Ryan by accident, heavily injuring her shoulder in the process, James got his marching orders from the group.
Lingering between the mid card and main event, it wasn’t until Ceno had a change of heart. The once-charismatic fan favourite decided to forsake the fans once and for all, swearing off of them as Paragon became heroes in the wrestling industry, pushing for an older-school method of training and growing.
Becoming one of the more effective heel wrestlers came with a price. Even though Ceno was able to rip the Ultraviolent title away from his former mentor and only friend, his antics on social media could not escape him, as his contract was terminated when news of sexual harassment came to the light. Effectively, Ceno cut ties with all organizations he was a part of, tearing himself away from that he loved most; the dream had become a nightmare.
Attire: Wrestling Singlet in black and red, adorned with embroidered lightning and flames; the style can change depending on the buildup for a match
Theme song: “Hell” by Disturbed
Pic Base: Kurt Angle (WWE/TNA transition period)
Entrance: The low rumble that opens the song “Hell” by Disturbed shakes the arena with thudding bass. The lights fade to black as the big screen begins to lighten up with what looks like red smoke. With the eruption of David Draiman’s roar, flaming mortars erupt on either side of the ramp, a single white spot in the midst of strobing red lights is pointed at the top of the stage. James Ceno, in full ring gear, stands there, looking at the ring, looking at the people, almost entranced by the feeling of the music washing over him.
With the beginning of the second verse, he begins his slow strut to the ring, purpose and passion behind each step as he gets to the apron. The opening to the bridge cues him to the steel steps, slipping between the second and top ropes as he walks with authority to the centre of the ring.
His fists are raised high as his head bobs to the music. After a few seconds, he backs to his corner and lets the music end on its own, and the lights return to normal with the sound of the last cymbal.
Favorite moves: Haymaker punches, Muay Thai kicks to legs/body, Muay Thai clinch with knees to head/body, Spear, Kitchen Sink knee into joint-targeted stomps, chopblock, Stan Hansen lariat, Moonsault
Signature move(s): Thunderclap (Canadian Destroyer piledriver), sharpshooter, shining wizard, Suplex Central Station (combination of German, belly-to-belly, capture, t-bone and fisherman’s suplexes; optional for pin attempt)
Finisher(s): Electric Hellfire (powerbomb into one-handed chokeslam); Shock Lock (ankle lock with/out grapevine
