As seen on Trinity Wrestling Tuesday Night Sin… November 12, 2019…
Raging Dead slowly gets to his feet and turns around, right into a shotgun dropkick. He bangs the back of his head on the ring steps and Jacqui rolls into the ring to break the count from Hollie Michaels. She goes back out and walks toward the champ, who has a confused look on his face.
Raging Dead: Sara? What happened to your hair?
Jacqui stops dead in her tracks and looks concerned. She looks up at Hollie Michaels, who encourages her to get him back in the ring.
Case: He may have a concussion. He just mistook Jacqui Monroe for his own wife.
Trey: But he doesn't remember his own wife, Case. At least… not until that knock to the head…
Jacqui helps Dead up and rolls him into the ring, where he gets to his feet, looking around confused.
Case: It's like he has never been here before. This is surreal.
Trey: Even his tights are unknown to him. Can we get some help out here?
Jacqui climbs back into the ring and puts her hand in Dead's shoulder. Instinct kicks in and he turns around, hoists her upside down in a tombstone piledriver position, cradles her leg with his right arm and then drives her head in the center of the ring!
Case: There's the cover!
Trey: One… two… THREE!
The bell sounds and Raging Dead staggers to his feet, confused again as Hollie Michaels hands him the Pure Championship. She raises his hand in victory… and then he passes out cold, dropping to the mat next to Jacqui Monroe.
Case: What the shit?
Trey: We need help out here.
Case: Cut to a commercial or something.
The scene fades…
Gust Compound… Ozone Park, New York… Saturday, November 16, 2019… 2:20am...
The man known to the world as current and reigning Trinity Wrestling Pure Champion The Raging Dead is seated on a weathered recliner, staring at a powered off television set. Here, in this home, he is known as Nathan Gust. He is motionless, stoic, aware. Into the room comes the lovely, yet concerned Sara Pettis with a tray of delectables, and a cup of pills. She sets it down on her husband's lap, and he does not react. His gaze into the abyss is not interrupted in the slightest.
Sara: Honey, please, try to eat. Doc said you need to eat with your meds. I need… we need you to come back to us.
She looks up at a shelf on the wall, littered with family photos of holidays and vacations. Pictured in every one through the years is their daughter Stephanie. He finally breaks his concentration on nothing and looks up at her, seeing her as if for the very first time.
Nathan: I don't feel so good.
Sara: You suffered a grade three concussion on Tuesday. You were out for almost twenty four hours. You came in and out of consciousness long enough to mumble nonsense before passing out again.
There is a moment of silence as Nathan picks up his cup of meds. He takes the pills back and washes them down with water. Then he looks back to Sara…
Nathan: Yup.
Sara: Yup? That's all you're going to give me? You've put me through hell the last two years with this Raging Dead stuff, and all you can give me is… yup?!
Nathan: I'm sorry, Sara. I don't remember any of it.
Sara: That's the problem. You were supposed to he on meds two years ago, go in for regular scans, work with your doctors. Instead, you were at that decrepit gym with Christina, when she doesn't need any more training.
Nathan: The day you stop learning is the day you stop living.
Sara: Don't feed me Will's bullshit line. He only told us that so we'd keep paying him for training.
Nathan: I never charged Christina a dime.
Sara: Then why is she so important, that you had to risk your health to help her succeed?
Nathan: She is the bloodline. Both sides. She is the best and worst of us all. She is the one to carry on our legacy.
Sara: I don't give a damn about our legacy. I just want my family back. I want my husband back. Steph needs her father back. Why can't you see that?
Nathan: I can see clearly now the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way.
Sara: Jimmy Cliff? Really?
Nathan: It seemed fitting.
Sara: I wish you would take this seriously.
Nathan: I am taking this seriously. It's just… a lot… to process. I lost two years of my life… and now I find out I've been biting people in Trinity Wrestling for the last month.
Sara: Yeah… about that…
Nathan: I watched the highlights on YouTube… and it's some sick stuff. Did you know I lost two teeth last week?
Sara: Yes… I was there…
Nathan: As demented as this… Raging Dead… character is… he's successful. He was undefeated in Trinity, aside from being… buried alive by Christina at Monster Mash. Also… Monster Mash… really? They just let him… err, me… run a show?
Sara: They sure did. They put a lot of faith in you to make the Pure Division something special… and then you dominated the entire division on what was - I guess - the last episode of Tuesday Night Sin.
Nathan: Oh, yeah. What's the deal with Trinity and Action? I saw a bunch of folks flocking to Action on the Twitter. Is that something I should be doing?
Sara: I don't know what's going on. We'll find out next week along with everyone else. As far as you going to Action Wrestling… I'm on board if you can get cleared by doctors. I know how important it is for you to do what you can until you can't anymore.
Nathan: I'll do it until the wheels fall off. That's been the goal from day one.
Sara: I know. There's something… else… I wanted to discuss with you. I've been thinking about… going back to work.
Nathan: You mean…
Sara: Yes… wrestling. It's been years since I've been out there, doing what's in my blood. I would need some tuning up, of course… when you're up to it. What do you think?
Nathan: I think we're getting the band back together. We need to get Connor--
Sara: Connor died… years ago…
Nathan: Oh, right. My memory is a little caddywampus right now.
Sara: Your memory was never great. That's why I'm here… and despite you being a pain in the ass sometimes… I'll always be here.
Nathan: Thanks… for everything.
Sara: Finish your food and bring your plate in the kitchen. I have to run to the store and pick up dog food before Shadow turns into the Raging Dog.
She kisses him on the head and then leaves the living room. He smiles and picks up his phone… logs onto the Twitter… and…
