Voice: I maybe new to Trinity Wrestling, but I’m not new to wrestling…at all
That was the voice of Kelly Penkzee-Nelson, the newest signee to Trinity Wrestling. Despite her being new to the company, she’s not new to the world of professional wrestling. Going all over the world, being a world traveler, being outspoken and becoming one of the respected women in the game, Kelly was ready for a new start in a new place. This is her journey on how she got here.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: I know – it’s been a long time since I’ve said something that would make the people shake their heads and think I’m some type of asshole because I speak my mind and don’t give a flying damn what people say. I want to put those thoughts about me to rest.
She looks ahead and faces the skyline of New York City, the place where she lives and calls home. New York’s home to her.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: But first, I want to give an introduction to everyone in Trinity that may or may not know me. My name’s Kelly Penkzee-Nelson and I’m a well-traveled wrestler. I’ve been all over the world from countries like Germany to France to Japan and to the United States. I got my start in Girl Power Wrestling….
Kelly shakes her head mentioning it. It had to be said.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: Yup. The infamous promotion out in California where it got a bad reputation when there were plenty of women there trying to make a good statement and put it on the map for Women’s Wrestling. I was one of them that wanted to see that promotion succeed and spoke up about the crap that went down. After speaking up and getting tired along the way, I decided enough was enough and left there.
And let me tell you, making that decision was the best decision I made in my life – I was able to wrestle and expand my career.
She smiles at what was said. No disrespect to the company that she was in beforehand, she just wanted to do what she had to do.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: I became a Women’s Tag Team Champion along with my sister, Joanna. I was able to make sure Women’s Wrestling was taken seriously and fought for that honor. I made it clear that I wanted to become the best, and I just did because in 2018, it was the year I became Women’s Champion after everything I went through. Not going to lie, being a women’s champion was something I loved being despite having the target.
Her smirk goes down into a frown. This was the hard part that she had to talk about.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: Eventually, being a target also comes with injures. While the promotion I was in went into a hiatus due to “legal issues” that happened, I had to take care of myself. If I wanted to keep on wrestling, I had to heal myself. Along the way, I saw many of my peers go onto bigger and better things. They started a promotion called “Five Boroughs Wrestling”. I wanted to take part in it but couldn’t because I was not clear to compete yet.
She chokes up a bit. Not really a crier at all because she’s tough. She’s human after all.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: However, it was just recently, that Madhouse Media was having a show and it was then and there I wanted to come back. I asked my doctors to ask if everything was OK.
KPN freezes in her tracks.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: They cleared me. However, I didn’t want to go back wrestling and not appear at any place. I made my decision on where I wanted to be at. I made it loud and clear that I wanted to be at a place that would make me happy like the other promotion I was in. No disrespect to anyone over at Five Boroughs Wrestling because I love them and the ones that are behind them, but I had to come to Trinity Wrestling since it was a better fit for me.
She smirks a bit.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: Right away, I’m put on the card to shake off the ring rust I have and prepare myself for whoever I will be going against next. My debut opponent happens to be…..er….uh…..
KPN pauses a bit for a second because she’s going against someone with a funny name.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: You know what? I’m going to be mature about this as mature I could be. I’m not that young chick that made fun of someone for speaking differently than I did – I look back at that and shake my head because it was very ignorant of me.
Kelly shakes her head at that. Yeah, she was a mean person at that time, but she’s changed.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: This week on my debut, I’m going against Jock “The Cock” Wilson and I’m looking forward to this match…in a way. You see, I don’t know who Jock is nor am I familiar of what he’s able to do. I’m not going to underestimate someone I don’t know that well because if I do, something will come up and cost me, which in the past has before. It could be a good match and it could go either way – though at the end of the day, I’m here to make it know that I’m determined.
She has a glare on her face begins to widen.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: I’m determined to be the best that Trinity has to offer. I’m here to be the best that every walked in this company during it’s short period and I’m here to erase EVERY SINGLE THOUGH anyone had about me. If you think I’m an asshole that’s outspoken then so be it? If you think I’m that negative person still, so be it because time does change, and it heals old wounds.
The glare’s still on her. Not letting up.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: Jock “The Cock” Wilson’s going to find out when we step in that ring on Tuesday. He’s going to find out WHY I’m a world class wrestler, why I want to be here and WHY I want to be on top of the world. My quest to becoming the best starts at Tuesday Night Sin….
She begins to walk away, but before she stops, she has one more thing to say.
Kelly Penkzee-Nelson: And nobody is going to stop me, not even politics. You will see.
Kelly goes back in her apartment. A whole new start for KPN starts on Tuesday.
