Place: Backstage corridor, Madison Square Garden arena.
Date/Time: Feb 2021, an hour before the show.
Outfit:
(Vespertine walks around the corner backstage at the arena. She suddenly comes up on the interview area. The interview crew is setting up and getting ready. She puts her gymbag to the side and goes over to the camera man to speak with him.)
Ves: I know I'm an hour or so early but I was wondering, can I do a straight shoot on Stylez tonight. Actually right now, since I'm here. Don't need an interviewer with me just turn the camera on and let me do my thing.
(The camera man and the sound tech talk it over, then break.)
Cameraman: Sure. Let me get set up. Uh, do whatever you have to do to pretty yourself. Do you want to wait for our backstage interviewer. She should be here in 5.
Vespertine: I'm set to go now. I'm not going to change into my wrestling gear, I look good as is.
Cameraman: All right. Let's do this.
(For a minute or two nothing happens as the camera gets set up and the sound guy sets up too. Vespertine looks around, then spies a tall stool to sit on, goes over, grabs it and sits down on it. The sound tech hands her a mic.)
Cameraman: And we are good to go in 5 4 3 2 and....
(He points to Vespertine to start)
Why am I even talking to you? Because I have to. I've been put in a match with you. I'm assuming since because I'm new here, it's an exhibition match. Nothing great. Nothing fantastic like over a title or a grudge match. Just a simple match. Now I could go on and on about our match but that would be redundant and boring because everyone knows I'm better than you and I can wipe the mat with your ass. No, let's talk about something else. (switches topics suddenly) Everytime you open your mouth and say something, nobody has any idea what you are saying. I think you're American but you act like a jackanape from the streets of London with a cockney accent. Nobody understands you, so why are you even here? You think you are the top dog or whatever it is you deem yourself. The paragona of Amerikana. Really? That... is.... so childish.
(She looks back up)
So you're from Louisiana. New Orleans to be exact. I love that town but really you aren't the best thing to come from that town. They got the French Quarter, Jackson Square, Cafe Du Monde, Lake Ponchatrain, the Missippi River, Voodoo, the above ground cemeteries, the casinos, all things that come from Naw Leans but are considered better than you. When people mention New Orleans, they never, EVER, mention you. Now we could compare cities. I'm from San Francisco, summer of 69, the Golden Gate Bridge, TransAmerica building, Castro District, Haight and Ashbury, Golden Gate Park. I live in Upper Nob Hill, the rich part of the city. And you live in one of the wards that surround New Orleans. Aren't they considered Ghettos of sorts? And like how you were raised to be a nobody, that's all you are in the ring. A nobody.
(She smiles a rather lopsided evil grin.)
See where I went with that. I can totally talk circles around you and we all know what your comeback would be. Swearing every second word with words like shit and fuck, sorry censors.
Cameraman: No problem. It is after 9 we will be showing this.
Vespertine: You'll tell me I'm a nobody and that you are better in everything. And you'll dismiss me as arrogant and a spoilt little princess because of my upbringing, just like Amber Payne, Talia and Chelsea Skye did. You know the Skye sisters: Talia and Chelsea who is affectionately known in these parts as Talia Skye V2.
(She pauses)
I admit it, I am a spoiled princess. I never wanted for anything and I was an only child. I'm pretty, I was popular in high school and college and I'm good at everything I put my mind too. I'm Asian which makes it that much worse for street orphans like you. But I'm more American than Asian so I'm a spoiled little rich Asian American bitch. I admit it. But however spoiled a princess I may be, I've got more skills and ring talents in my big toe than you ever will in your entire body. You are a nothing but again, you'll tell me that its people like me that made you what you are today. Turning that around, it's people like you, that made me what I am today. So thanks for that. You made me decide to get into this business. It's street rats like you that led my father to believe that I need to train in martial arts so I wouldn't be attacked on the streets of San Francisco. It's street trash like you that made me believe I can take those skills and be the wrestler that I came to be. It's gutter rats like you that gave me my list of accolades, titles and accomplishments over the years. World Champion, Light Heavyweight Champion, Tag Team Champion, Hall of Famer, Double Champion, Women's Champion, X treme champion, hardcore champion, X champion, Pure Star champion. And what do you have to your name, Stylez?
(Her eyes sparkle with a darkness)
Not a damn thing because all you are and all you will ever be is a spot monkey who likes to talk dirty but never really getting anywhere because you got no skills to back your talk up. You don't care about titles, you don't care about skills or talents, you don't even care about this business. You're great at talking or whatever it is that you call it but you can't walk the walk.
(She looks at her nails again)
Go home, Stylez. Crawl back to Ward 9 under the rock you came from because you... don't... belong.... here. You never will. The princess has spoken. Stay down, my sweet. It's where you belong. You are nothing, you will always be nothing. Johnny. I'm sorry if you don't like what this princess says about you. But really, I can't thank you enough because if it weren't for people like you, for gutter trash like you, you wouldn't be facing me today and I wouldn't be where I am in this business. And because we will not hear a word from you because you aren't full timer here, your bio is in the archives, I won't make this long or story line driven. Just me, letting you know that I am quite simply better than you. Why? Because YOU made me. YOU made this spoiled princess into a monster in the ring, a monster on the streets, a monster in the Dojo. You did this.
(She indicates herself)
And because of that, you will feel death... by diva.
(She hands the mic back to the sound tech. Camera cuts shot...)
Cameraman: And....stop rolling. We are good. Thank you Ms. Vespertine.
Vespertine: No problem. (changes subjects) Uh, do you guys need help setting up or in the production truck or setting up the ring. I've got a half hour before I need to change.
Cameraman: You might want to try Keith in the production truck. He handles all this. He could always use some sort of help.
Ves: Thanks, will do.
(She goes over, picks up her gym bag and water, takes a few sips then takes off down the hall towards the production truck.)

Ves: You know
Stylez, you have done nothing noteworthy here in ROW. You talk a big
game but there is nothing special about you. What makes you so great?
What makes you think you have what it takes? What makes you think you
stand out from the crowd? Nothing because you have done nothing great.
I have seen your kind before, have fought your kind before and I
always came out better in the end. Regardless of whether I win or not.
I always come out looking better in the end.
