“Let’s go Cowboys! Let’s go Cowboys! Let’s go Cowboys!”
Serena and her friends filed out of the AT&T Stadium with the rest of the capacity crowd; the Dallas Cowboys having just beaten the New York Giants to the final score of 44-20.
“That was such a great game!” Emma shouted.
“Right!? 4-and-1 baby!” Liam chimed in.
“And top of our division!” Serena added.
The friends high-fived each other as they got outside.
“Was it weird for you?” Emma asked.
“A little,” Serena answered. “I’m used to being on the field cheering them on, not in the stands.”
“All eyes on you,” Liam joked.
Serena slapped Liam on the arm as the three made their way to the parking garage. An alert on Serena’s phone caused her to stop as she pulled it out of her back pocket.
“Oh, I got to take this! You guys go on ahead,” Serena instructed her friends.
She clicked the green button and answered her phone.
“Hi Cass… Mrs. Starr… boss…” Serena stumbled.
“Just call me Cassandra,” the GM of Legacy instructed her.
“Yes ma’am… err… Cassandra,” Serena sputtered.
“Just checking in on my talent and making sure you’re still able to make your debut,” Cassandra said.
“Of course!” Serena answered. “Thank you again for the opportunity!”
“Think nothing of it,” Cassandra replied. “But getting to the door is one thing Serena; you need to be able to walk through it.”
“Oh, no worries, I’ve been training for this opportunity for months now. I think you even know the person, she used to be in the HWA with you,” Serena stated. “By the way, who am I facing in my debut?”
“Amber Payne,” Cassandra answered.
“Oh, I’m going to bring the pain to Amber…” Serena giggled.
Dead silence on the other end of the phone.
“Not funny?” Serena asked.
“You need to work on your trash-talk dear,” Cassandra replied.
“Yes ma’am… boss… Mrs…” Serena tripped over her words.
“I need to go,” Cassandra interrupted. “Take care dear and we’ll see you on Tuesday. Ta-ta!”
Cassandra hung up before Serena could even respond. Serena rushed to catch up with her friends, finding them waiting in Liam’s truck.
“Took you long enough,” Liam grumbled.
“Sorry,” Serena answered. “It was my new boss.”
“You in trouble already?” Emma teased. “You haven’t even had your first match yet.”
“No, not in trouble,” Serena countered. “She was just calling to check up on me. Do you guys know anything about Amber Payne?”
“That’s who you’re wrestling!?” Liam asked.
“Yeah…” Serena faltered.
“You’re so dead,” Liam laughed.
Emma slapped Liam as Serena sat back in her seat.
“Way to be supportive,” Emma berated Liam.
“It’s okay,” Serena responded. “I’ve been doubted my whole life but that hasn’t ever stopped me before. I know this won’t be easy but I’m ready to have all eyes on me once more. I’m ready to show all my doubters what I’m capable of and that I’m not just another pretty face that can shake her ass. Just because I’m the ‘new girl on campus’ doesn’t mean I won’t fight like hell to prove that I belong. I’m ready to cement my Legacy in Revo1!”
