We see a brief recap of the triple threat for the International championship with Jason Ryan, Angelo and Mark Kelly. After a brief highlight reel, we see Jason pinning Angelo and holding up his new prize the International championship.
The scene then switches to show Jason Ryan in a Victorian style study, sitting behind a solid oak desk, holding his new championship. He smirks, letting the sounds of the fire in the fireplace cackling through the air. A melody plays in the background.
As I said. Rebirth has lived up to its name. And so, The Cycle begins again, and now we move on to the next stage of the game. Where I defend my newly won crown against a certain player in this conflict. In every Cycle there are repeat players. There is me, The Vessel, the one who serves to ensure the vision of the High Ones. But my upcoming opponent also has a point to play, in this particular phase.
Jason reaches behind him and grabs a thick leather bound book from a bookshelf behind him. He opens it up midway and sets it down on his desk.
My opponent Anya Coyle's role in this conflict is also a repeat player. You see Anya is what is known as the Fallen Ruler. Anya being the longest holder of my crown is proof of that. For those ignorant of the pattern of The Cycle, allow me to explain. Or rather, allow us.
Jason gets a faraway expression on his face, seemingly focusing on something off camera
The Fallen Ruler is one who at one time was adjourned in accolades and glory, one whom was seen as a champion for the people, but it all comes to a crashing end. We have seen it over the ages throughout history. And all with one conclusion. Sadly for Anya, this comeback story will not end well for you, as it never does for the Fallen ruler. For you see, this phase always sees the demise of the Fallen Ruler. The Fallen ruler dies whilst trying to re-establish their kingdom, to reclaim their crown. They of course try so hard to recapture their glory but all they find instead is their defeat. And you Anya will be just like those that came before you.
Jason closes his eyes for a few moments. When he opens them he looks back at the camera.
Do not be a fool either. You are no hero, you are not some special savior that will break this trend. 'Tis an order of events as old as human civilization itself We have lost count of how many Fallen Rulers I have seen come and fall over the eons. Rome's in {articular amused us greatly. To see the descendants of the great Caesar himself fight for their blood rights never cased to be entertaining. We almost regret that Cycle's end to be honest. Ah, what fine adversaries the Fallen Ruler's of the past made, our eventual victory is always so much better when the game is competitive. We must express our disappointment. Compared to those in the past, Anya is a complete joke.
Jason moves the book on the desk 180 degrees so the camera can see the picture of a ruler, wearing bloody and tattered armor, face shrouded in shadow, kneeling on a battlefield with bodies strewn about.
You Anya, may of had our crown the longest of all but you have no chance. You have no hope. After all, your purpose in this game is to fail while trying to recapture what you arrogantly believe is yours. You do not even realize your entire existence has led you to this point do you? You don't realize every choice you've made, every action you've carried out, all of you life's trials, all your triumphs and all your failures, have all been driving you towards this one moment. The Cycle is unavoidable, all have some part to play. There is nothing you can do to avoid your destiny of falling to us. That has been your fate from the moment you opened your eyes. Now we know the question burning in your mind? " Why me?" you must be asking. " Why was I chosen?" We know what you want us to say. That you are special somehow. That you are unique in some sense. Try not to be too disappointed when we say that is not the case. Despite all you've done, despite your long title reign, despite all of that, you are insignificant. You were not chosen because you stand out. You were chosen merely because The Cycle deemed you for the role. Nothing more.
Jason faces the camera and smiles
Worry not Anya for we have good news. Once we dispose of you, we will continue on with our reign with the International title and we will eventually become the greatest to hold the title. You reign, however long it was will erode into nothingness. Your legacy will become an afterthought and we will ensure your work with our title is never brought up again. All while you watch. Watch knowing there is nothing you can do, doomed to await the end of The Cycle with the rest of them. Having to live with the fact you let everyone down. You never had a chance t stop us, but you had the chance to at least delay The Cycle. No, when you fail, you will have to watch as we devour your legacy, tear it down and from the debris, use the title you once wore so proudly and forge a legacy with the title that you can't even fathom. All you have done will have been for not, like dust being blown away by the wind. And there's nothing you can do to stop us.
Jason makes a shooing motion with his hands
Now shoo! Prepare for your final battle. And forgive us for the pain.
