The Interstate Love Song Chronicles - VI
"A girl walks into a bar," Magdalena Lokcheart says as she looks into the camera, "Stop me if you've heard this one."
The scene is the front door of the Knoxville Convention Center and Lockheart appears worse for wear. She's all bandaged; taped up from a couple weeks worth of hellacious matches that started with defending her Level Up 'Final Boss' championship and ended out in the Sonoran desert with Wrestlestock. But regardless she wears the Revo1 Horrorcore championship with pride on her shoulder.
"A girl walks into the bar and she orders something odd. She leans in from her stool and whispers to the bartender that she's feeling reckless tonight, so she wants a shot of pain straight up with no chaser."
"The bartender agrees and when the girl takes the drink from him she downs it and has the most unusual response. Again, she asks the bartender, 'more pain please', but this time she wants the entire bar to feel how she feels, so she orders a round for everyone."
Lockheart's mirrored aviator sunglasses mirror the camera lens back to the viewing audience, that is until she pulls them up to reveal her bruised, puffy eyes.
"Now I want to pretend that you're that girl... and maybe that's why you ambushed me after my match with Angelo on Legacy in Kansas City. But that's not why you did it, you did it for this."
She points to the Horrorcore championship belt.
"Aphrodite, don't think for one second that I've forgotten about you. Oh no, I've studied you. I've listened in when you admitted that you don't care about the wins, or the championships, or how much money Kylie Moore stuffs into your pocket after these shows. This is all just a vessel for you, right? It's all just a means to a self-destructive end... but once you started hurting people like Jason Ryan you realized that you wanted to drag others down with you."
"And I of all people should understand, right? I get it, I really do. If you're going to go down in a blaze of glory you might as well take all of the gold you can grab and spill as much blood as you can until that final bell tolls. That's why you came after me that night in Kansas City... no... this is why you came after me that night," she once again points to the belt, "because there's nothing more pleasure-seeking and self-destructive as being the Horrorcore champion."
"So a girl walks into a bar and she orders pain, but what she doesn't realize is that the bartender has heard this excuse before. I know what you want and what you're trying to take from me, I say, because I realize being a target means that dumbasses like you will come crawling out of the woodwork... like sharks if you even think you smell blood in the water you come knocking on my door as if I owe you something."
"Well newsflash Aph, I DON'T OWE YOU SHIT except an asswhoopin', but you're in luck. That's just what you ordered and I'm more than happy to oblige. Pain isn't just what we serve at this bar, it's our speciality, and yeah I knew what being the Horrorcore champion would mean if I won it so I'm more than prepared to give you all that you need."
"The thing is Aph, you should have had the decency to ask me for a title match instead of disrespecting me in the way that you did. It makes me feel a little... what's the word? It makes me feel like you think you're better than me or at the very least that you do have a deathwish. I'm not sure if you know this or not, but even though I don't like hardcore wrestling doesn't mean that I'm not good at it. No, Aph, I must admit, I'm not in any physical shape to compete nor do I normally enjoy trying to purposefully inflict pain upon others."
"But you made this match more than it had to be. YOU were the one who wanted to show-off and get personal. That's fine, bitch, cause you ordered a shot of pain and now I won't think twice about serving you the whole damned bottle! I haven't been in Revolution long but I'm already sick of this shit, hah- I'm already losing my patience with biding my time. Maybe I walk into Rebirth right now and stop waiting for the roster to come to me... maybe it's time I take the fight to them... starting with you."
"The thing you didn't know about me is that if you truly wanted someone to destroy you, you should have come to me first. But since we're both here now, on one of Revo's biggest stages, the good news is you'll finally get your wish. Either way, you'll walk out of the Knoxville Convention Center as the new Horrorcore champion or you'll be wheeled out on a stretcher. Either way... you win. But should it be the latter? Should I give you more than you can handle... more pain than you could possibly imagine... Don't blame me, Aph."
"Look at what you just made me do."
Maggie smiles at the camera as she pulls her shades back down over her eyes and turns to enter the Convention Center.
Instead of fading to black, the camera follows her through the threshold. Almost immediately, heavy footfalls rush to her side, startling her. She jumps into a defensive pose, only to find that it's Ed from the ring crew. He's sweating, out of breath, and terrified.
"Come quick!" He shouts breathily, and grabs her by the wrist.
"What's wrong? What is it?"
"It's Tommy-" he yanks on her arm. "There's been an accident!"
"What happened?"
"There's no time... We need your help!"
"Oh shit-"
Maggie and Eddie both run off towards the ringside area.
