(apologies up front. Job interviews and current job along with other things really took a toll on my creativity this week.)
==========
So...close.
For the second time in a month, I was so close to where I wanted to be. Where I needed to be.
It's all connected though.
That Glory tournament win would be mine if that jackal Jalen Prince didn't try to forcibly remove my arm from my body. He did, and it gave Sierra Silver enough to get by me. Without that, it's an all unStable final. Instead I watched Jin go on and win, watch him stand where I wanted to if it wasn't for the malevolence of another.
If that wasn't enough, I took that bum shoulder into a title fight. A fight that I deserved to win, but didn't lose either. At full strength, there's no doubt the only thing adorning my shoulder is championship gold. Instead I had to watch that snake Chelsea LeClair escape one more time with that title around her waist. Saved not by her own skill or her own abilities, but a technicality.
Just like against Aphrodite.
I sense a pattern here.
It won't last though.
Two of our group have gotten so close. If Jin chooses you Chelsea, your luck won't carry for the third. That title will be liberated from your selfish, nine lives having self. Time will be up soon.
This week you get a preview of that though. It's a star studded main event. All the champions are out, showcasing their abilities. Showcasing why they're champions.
...Why are some of them champions anyway?
Sure, we've already detailed Chelsea LeClair's abilities to survive that which imperils her title reign. There must be a horseshoe lodged in a place we can't see, but again that all comes to an end soon. Luck runs out, and that title will have a new home sooner rather than later.
Yet why are you champion Mark Kelly?
I know the literal reason why. You beat Anya Coyle in a title match, an action that in general I cheer. Anything to deprive those vicious hyenas of power is something that's ultimately good. What's bad for the Left Hand is good for everyone else, which means you did your part to make Revo1 a better place.
Why was it you though?
After all you've been here for a cup of coffee and a danish. You haven't done anything. Meanwhile I beat Anya to advance in Glory, and did it while her goons were trying to murder me and my squad. Fair and square I won. It would make sense that I should have gotten the next shot at Anya, because I beat her once. I can do it again.
I didn't though. You did.
So instead of getting a title match I rightfully earned because I beat the champion, you got it and weaseled your way into being champion. All while I SHOULD be world champion right now, but because of some arbitrary nonsense I'm not. Can you see why I'm not really happy these days Mark?
That's bad luck for you though, because it means I need to make another example. It's clear that the only way this place operates is violence, which means at Sin I need to expose you for the line hopping little ant you are. I need to put you back in your place, because it's clear you don't know it yet.
Speaking of, hello there Sierra Silver. You're the shiny new kid on the block, the bell of the ball as of late. Finalist in the Glory tournament, first ever Futures champion, all that good stuff. You've made quite the opportunity for yourself. You've taken the ball and run with it.
You're also a thief.
You took away my chance at the Glory finals, at the chance to dethrone a champion of my choice. You did it with your bubblegum personality and grade school charm, but it's all a smokescreen. You're a dirty no good thief, and you deserve the beating you're about to receive. You're nothing but a second rate cartoon character, and that's not special. That's annoying.
You are annoying, and at Sin we'll beat some of that annoyance out of you.
Then there's the mystery guest here, the one who beat the unbeatable Jessie Lee. The one who did was so many others tried, but weren't able to. I would love nothing more than to say you don't deserve your title, or that you're some level of scourge...but I can't...
Because you don't matter. You're not important enough to know, because you just showed up and lucked into a win. You're on the B show with a C level title. You are not on my level, on our level. I'm here for world champions and the like, not someone with a toy title they bought at a big box score. Do the rest of us a favor and take the week off. Don't embarrass yourself. Save yourself.
As for the Left Hand, because I know you're lurking around in the shadows waiting to strike. You wisely stayed away when we showed up at Legacy last week. I highly advise doing the same this week. This isn't a fight you can win, and the more fuel you add to the fire will make your downfall burn that much hotter. Your time is coming, but the best thing you can do is stay away. Our clash will come, your loss will come, but don't make me hunt you harder than I am.
Because it's not about you this week. It's about me, my partners, and our chance at reestablishing ourselves. At continuing to show the world why we're the top, and why the only thing keeping us from being draped in gold isn't skill but coincidence. Not talent but technicalities.
That will only last so long.
Our time is coming.
