MAD QUEEN
“Stay down, Christina. It’s not worth your future. I could easily break every bone in your body. I could bust you open worse than I already am and send you straight to the hospital.”
A gym in the mind 2010s. A familiar voice, that of The Raging Dead himself. He stands within a large wrestling ring and at his feet in the crumpled form of the woman who would become Madwoman. Blood trickles from her forehead, blood as crimson as the color of her hair. Her big, blue eyes glance up at her uncle. The Raging Dead shakes his head at his niece. On the outside of the ring Ross Hanson stands, his eyes turned away from the ring. It seems he simply can’t stand the sight of his aunt being absolutely destroyed by his great-uncle.
“Just like your dad. You never know when to give up, do you? I busted you open and yet, you still persist. So this really is the life you want, huh?”
The future Madwoman can do little else than stare at her uncle with determined eyes. She struggles to stand but The Raging Dead, Nathan Gust for those in the know, sweeps her legs. She falls back onto the mat hard. A yelp of pain leaves her lips. Gust again shakes his head. This time he goes in to punch Madwoman’s face, but the girl rolls to the side to avoid the punch.
“Give up, Christina.”
Madwoman shakes her head and grabs onto her uncles arm. It’s as if she is attempting to lock in a hold, but Gust isn’t having any of it. He easily breaks the hold and tosses the inexperienced Madwoman to the side.
“Fine. Stand up, Christina. Stand up so I can knock you back down.”
The young Madwoman struggle to her feet. Again Gust attempts to sweep her feet. This time, however, Madwoman is able to jump over the leg sweep. Gust is stunned and in that moment Madwoman performs her very first Swan Kick. It’s not as graceful as the Swan Kick we know today, but the force is enough to knock Gust on his ass with a loud thud. St first Gust seems almost mad… But before long he begins to laugh. For the first time in a long time he feels pride in someone other than himself. Madwoman rushes at her uncle but Gust holds up a hand and she ceases her rush. Ross seems ready to rush the ring himself but thinks better of it at the very last moment.
“You win. I’ll train you. Now get back before I knock out your teeth.”

I call my fans true believers. At first there were very few true believers but as I began my stunning winning streak the fans began to believe. They came believers in my madness, they became true believers. And I, I began to believe in them. We became as one and I feed off of their hopes. I feed off of their energy.
True believers! Cast your voices upwards in joy! Let your madness ring out through the world!
Madwoman has risen. From the streets of Parts Unknown, Ohio, to the wrestling ring. Madwoman has risen, and all true believers will cry out in joy as she takes what is rightfully hers. Let us take a brief stroll through memory lane so that you can understand where I came from and why I’m here.
Memories are the fuel. Without the fuel I would be nothing more than a simple young girl working a nine to five job. You would have never known me as Madwoman. You would have passed me on the street and ignored me. If my life had taken any deviations I would not be here before you as a true contender and future legend. I would just be that girl that you passed on the street. Let us not forget the trials and tribulations I overcame to get to this point. Let us not forget how hard I struggled to get to this point.
Let us not forget that while those who did not deserve their shots were in the main events and world championship matches that I, Madwoman, was carrying Trinity on my back. Not out of spite or ego, but out of love. Trinity Wrestling is my home and I fly this flag high. Even as it seems that the final days are upon us I am fully ready to go down with the ship. Such is my love for my home.
I remember seeing my brother win the UTA Championship. It was a day I felt a great deal of pride in my bloodline. I was still just a young child, not even old enough to truly understand what his championship victory really meant. Still, it lit a fire inside of me. That fire burned as embers do for many a year until I finally debuted at the age of nineteen. That day I made a promise to myself. I would never stop fighting, not until I was able to hold a world championship of my own. I toiled, I struggled, and finally I came home to Trinity Wrestling.
I remember seeing my father win his first world championship, one of the few happy moments I shared with him. He was already quite old and yet his championship victory lit a fire in him as well. Seeing him with gold around his waist only made my desire even stronger. Years later, after I made my promise, I also made a second promise. A promise that my title reign would surpass his. A promise that I would become an even bigger legend than he ever was and that I’d show the world that I could stand on my own. The fire grew stronger and stronger. I toiled, I struggled, and finally I came home to Trinity Wrestling.
I remember seeing my uncle, who you know as the Raging Dead, win his most recent world championship. I knew that I would need to seek him out to find out what it took to become a true champion. His fire burned brighter than both my brother and father, a fire that nearly consumed me and the whole of professional wrestling. Years later I would train under him and it was not easy. I was knocked down time and time again and told to quit. Never did I even consider doing such a thing, for my heart had become like a raging wildfire. I toiled, I struggled, and finally I came home to Trinity Wrestling.
Here I stand, ready to take what is rightfully mine. It feels as though my entire life has been building to this moment. Indeed, I can feel the surging power within my heart, fueled by the fire that was created way back when I saw my brother take the UTA championship. Now it is my turn, it is my time. For however long it lasts, I will fight till my last breath, till every drop of blood is gone from my body, for the right to be known as champion. Champion of this federation that I love so dearly.
Soon Trinity Wrestling will see the rise of a true legendary figure. This will be a moment that wrestling historians will look back upon as a turning point in this sport. It all begins Tuesday on Sin, live on Hulu. Tune in so that you can be a part of history. Tune in so that you can see the rise of wrestling’s Mad Queen. Madness will indeed reign. Madness will overtake all of Trinity Wrestling and I will proceed to cast my shadow over the whole of professional wrestling. It begins on Sin and God only knows when it ends.
------
Parts Unknown, America. The scene is set in black and white, no color is seen. Snow is falling from above like stars from the sky. We’re upon a mountain with no life to be found. Wilderness, that’s all we can see. It is eerie beyond belief. Above us the sun shines like a beacon of hope. Then the camera turns to reveal Madwoman sitting upon a tree stump. The cold doesn’t seem to bother our mousey heroine. The look upon her face is, for once, calm. It is as if she has finally found the peace she has needed for so long.
“I’ve waited for this moment my entire life. Every single breath, every single heartbeat, every single second. All of these were leading to this singular moment. My first world championship opportunity. There may be dozens of championship matches in my future, but none will ever be as important and as anticipated as this singular championship match. I come in undefeated. Since March of this year, nine months, I have been undefeated in major wrestling promotions. Nine months. Three of those months have been spent here, in Trinity Wrestling.”
“I came into Trinity Wrestling as a surprise entrant into a battle royal. I spent that battle royal knocking out world class talent left and right. The very next week I main evented Sin and took the Television Championship by force. Over the course of the next two months I became the most prolific champion to ever wrestle in Trinity. The strong, the weak, the sane, the crazy, the best. They all fell before me, they all came to fear the madness I carry with me. While others took the easy road I was fighting with everything I have to give just to bring prestige to my division. Then, it came to pass that no other wrestler would be able to top my championship reign. So my championship was retired.”
“At the same time Abbi has the luckiest streak in the history of professional wrestling. She lucked into a world championship match and she lucked into a victory when Graham couldn’t get the job done. Her record speaks for itself. She strolled in, was handed a world championship shot, and since has failed to live up to the standards a true champion should hold dear. She’s a disgrace to the championship she holds. She is incomprehensible and her rise as champion has been a slap to the face of every wrestler who struggles just for the chance to become a contender, let alone a champion. All the while I’ve been fighting and waiting, waiting for my chance to face this fluke of a champion.”
“Abbi came in with hype. I came in like a thief in the night. There was no hype for Madwoman, but as I racked up victory after victory it became clear that I was the woman who would lead Trinity Wrestling, and perhaps even wrestling as a whole. I came in like a natural disaster, five feet of pure destruction. This has been a legendary run and I earned this shot by working three times as hard as anyone else who’s been given, GIVEN, a world championship shot. I earned this. Do you think I’ll just let it slip through my fingers? Do you think I’ll fail like Graham Clauson? No, true believers, I’m going to cement my name in wrestling history. This isn’t just a dream, this is a fact.”
Madwoman stands to her feet and lets out a fierce roar. The stillness around her fades as wildlife stirs. Birds begin to fly through the air. Foxes run through the thickets surrounding her. Her very presence begins to alter the world around her. It is not madness but determination. Through sheer willpower and determination she has reached the peak of Trinity Wrestling, and of this unknown mountainscape. Indeed, Madwoman spent the better part of a day climbing these peaks, just to film this promo. And she did so without a jacket, so what do you think she’ll do to Abbi?
“For this I engaged in mortal combat in a jail cell. For this I bled multiple times and had multiple injury scares. For this I picked myself up from each of those scares, from that fabled battle in a jail cell, and carried forth as a true champion. One might even say that Abbi isn’t defending the World Championship, that she’s simply holding it for me. Perhaps this entire time that championship has been meant for a wrestler like me.”
“I don’t respect you, Abbi. I never did. How could I ever respect a woman who came into Trinity only to be handed a championship match on a silver platter while I toiled week after week? I simply can’t. What I do have respect for is that championship, a respect and a healthy desire to strap that belt around my waist and be known now, and forever, as CHAMPION. I have so much respect for that championship that the very thought of letting you walk out of this ring still holding it sickens me. It sickens me, Abbi. I don’t hate you but I hate what you’ve done to the championship that should, by all right, already be mine. The entire main event scene is just lucky I was busy with the Television Championship. You’re all on notice now.”
“As champion I’ll bring glory to Trinity Wrestling. Even now so many have given up hope, but I have not. It’s time to put your faith in Madwoman. It’s time to become a true believer, to believe that I can cure the woes this federation is suffering from. Trust in me, in my power to become a champion we can all be proud of. I promise you, I will defend that championship every single chance I get, just as I did with the Television Championship. Trust in the fact that I will be the picture of perfection. I am what Trinity Wrestling needs, a woman willing to go the extra mile while so many others take the easy paths.”
Madwoman points directly at the camera. The peaceful look upon her face morphs and becomes something more fierce. The madness is taking over again. The crazy look returns to her eyes.
“TUESDAY. HULU. There will be no more easy paths. No more handouts. No more easy victories. Luck has run out and all that is left is MADNESS! Madness doesn't play favorites! LET…. MADNESS…. REIGN!”
The world around our heroine begins to grow calm once more. Madwoman takes a super hero pose, both hands upon her waist, as the scene fades to black.
